Commissioned by Eleanor Mertzenich as part of the Neighbor Tones series, To Burst is dedicated in memory of the orchestra director for Sun Prairie, Ms. Dierdre Abbott. The students provided insights on both their late orchestra teacher, as well as suggestions for musical influences. I workshopped this work with them in December of 2021, and can’t wait for you to hear the students perform!
