Conducted by Cullan Lucas, the Driftless Urban Orchestra will bring together musicians from around the Driftless region in Wisconsin to perform Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring alongside Kimberly’s lauded work, Rocky Summer (“impressive and moving…an unexpected array of beautifully organized musical sounds…wonderfully suspenseful” —Theatre Jones). The work, originally premiered by the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, presents a fully-fledged soundscape of the journey up and down a mountain trail in the Rockies, leading listeners to what they expect is the peak of the work—only to drop them off somewhere else entirely by the end.
